Club Training Sessions

Sheffield Running Club offer a variety of training on different days of the week.

Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday

Tuesdays – Long runs

Tuesdays consist of long runs. There are either 3 or 4 groups between 20 and 50 runners. Why not look at some of our Tuesday night routes

Beginners / Improvers:

For for anyone who can run 30 minutes upwards at 9 to 10 minute mile pace. The group consists of between 5 and 20 runners

Middle I:

These two groups are for anyone who can run at an 8-9 mile pace, more geared towards the 8.5 mile – 9 mile pace

Middle II:

This group is for anyone who can run at an 8-9 mile pace, more geared towards the 8 mile pace

Advanced:

This group runs is for anyone who can manage 6 / 7 minute mile pace

Intervals:

Some of the guys do interval sessions on the track on a Tuesday

Meet in the club room at Don Valley Stadium by 6pm. The club room is just behind reception on the ground floor.

Thursdays – Speed Session

Speed WorkFor runners who want to do speedwork, these are short sprints for example 3x1000m with rests inbetween. As long as you have a base of steady training these sessions are guaranteed to improve your race times.

 

Meet in the club room at Don Valley Stadium by 6pm. The club room is just behind reception on the ground floor.

Saturdays – Hill Training

Hill RunningHill training session. Usually in the woods around Oughtibridge and Grenoside. Meet at 9.30am on Platt’s Lane (map location below). Dave takes the session and they last around 1.5 hours including warm up and warm down.

Sundays – Long run

Sunday Run The runs are usually between 60 and 90 minutes and are ideal for those preparing for longer distances. Ideally there is a mix of roads and footpaths, setting off from Rivelin, Graves Park, Hunters Bar, Wortley, Crosspool, Grenoside
